Who sells

Àplat furniture is sold by Francis-William Rhéaume, doing business as Àplat, at 1380, rue de Coulomb, Boucherville QC J4B 7J4.

The furniture

Each piece is CNC-cut from birch plywood in Boucherville, then sanded and oiled by hand. You get it flat, as a kit to assemble yourself. Configurable pieces are made to your measurements: the dimensions, options and price of your configuration are shown in the cart and on the payment page, before you pay.

The images on the site are renders and illustrations. Birch is a natural wood: its grain and colour vary from one sheet to the next.

Prices and taxes

Prices are in Canadian dollars, before taxes. GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) are added, and the total is shown before payment. There is no delivery fee: pickup is at the workshop. The price you pay is the one shown when you order.

Payment

You pay the full amount online when you order, by credit card only, on Stripe's secure payment page. We never see your card number.

A credit card protects you: if we do not meet our obligations, you can ask your card issuer to reverse the payment.

Making and lead time

Your piece is made after you order. It is ready for pickup 10 to 20 days after your order, depending on demand, and no later than 20 days after. We email you as soon as it is ready.

If it is not ready within 30 days after that date, you can cancel the order and get a refund (Quebec Consumer Protection Act, s. 54.9).

Pickup

Pickup is by appointment, at the workshop, at 1380, rue de Coulomb, Boucherville QC J4B 7J4: as soon as your piece is ready, we email you to set a time. Bring your order confirmation email. The piece is packed flat: bring a vehicle that fits its largest panels. We do not deliver for now.

We keep your order 60 days after the “ready for pickup” notice. After that, write to us and we will work something out.

Cancellation and returns

• Before cutting. You can cancel at no charge. Write to bonjour@aplat.ca: we confirm that cutting has not started and refund you in full, to your card, within 15 days.
• After cutting. A piece cut for your order cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged. The legal warranty, below, always applies.

Your other rights under the Quebec Consumer Protection Act remain intact, including the right to cancel if the piece is not ready on time.

Warranty

Like any goods sold in Quebec, your piece is covered by the legal warranty: it must be fit for the use it is intended for, and last a reasonable time (Quebec Consumer Protection Act, ss. 37 and 38).

A missing, damaged or badly cut part? Write to bonjour@aplat.ca with a photo: we recut it, or refund you if that is not possible.

Assembly and care

The piece goes together with no screws and no glue, with a mallet at most (not included). Assembly instructions come with each kit. Care of the oiled finish is explained in the FAQ.

How we handle your information is described in our privacy policy.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec. None of them prevents you from going to court or contacting the Office de la protection du consommateur (opc.gouv.qc.ca). Write to us first: almost everything gets sorted out by email.

Language

These terms are written in French, then translated into English. If they differ, the French version prevails.
